Milwaukee County Genealogical Society, Inc.

Beginners Class 2014 - 2015

"Beginners"Genealogy Classes
NOT just for Beginners!

Join the volunteers of your Milwaukee County Genealogical Society, with the support and cooperation of the Milwaukee County Public Library and the fantastic librarians of the Frank P. Zeidler Humanities Room at the Central Library, and take a fresh look at your old habits by signing up for the MCGS Genealogy Classes.

With sessions held one Saturday each month from September through June, on the day after our General Membership meetings, taking the classes is a wonderful way to reinvigorate your research, to look at old habits with new eyes and possibly meet new “cousins” (which happens more often than you might think!). Many of us have taken the Beginner Classes more than once, and thereby gained more than a refresher, we’ve gained new perspectives and new friends. And your insights may help someone else, newbie or veteran. We all learned from someone else, and such communal “learning by sharing” is the warm heart of genealogy.

The classes are free, however, a $10.00 fee will be charged to cover the cost of printing class handouts which contain information and forms used in the class, and to assist you in your research. Classes meet once a month from September until June between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Starting Saturday September 27, 2014, at Milwaukee Public Library Downtown, 814 W. Wisconsin Avenue, with convenvient on and off street parking. MCGS Classes are held in Meeting Room 1 near the main entrance of the Milwaukee Public Library. This room is located right next to the elevator (from the lower floor which is handicap accessable right off of 8th Street).

Map your route and know your options to make your meeting or research visit a pleasure! Links to up-to-date information and printable maps on downtown parking and current traffic conditions.
